Growing up in Melbourne, Kelly fell in love with the fashion and lifestyle industry at an early age. Starting her career as a retail and wholesale manager, Kelly soon found herself travelling the country exhibiting at trade shows and servicing hundreds of wholesale stockists worldwide.
The years following saw Kelly heading up sales, marketing and operations departments with reputable boutique production houses. In 2005 she made the bold move to take her extensive skill set out on the road and started her first freelance journey. This decision saw Kelly working with and at the helm of many successful projects for both large scale and boutique retailers such as Fun Accessories, Kookai, Forever New, Declic, Tribu Universal, Cerri and Witchery. She has also had styling & photography involvement with TV Wardrobe, Melbourne Fashion Week and has travelled the world working on and curating various campaign shoots.
Following several more years rounding out her already extensive experience, Kelly turned her focus to product development, distribution, business management and global logistics. She has spent well over a decade building her professional acumen working with both on and off-shore supply chain (throughout India, Indonesia, Thailand and China) and has gained global import, export and marketing experience within retail, E-Commerce and wholesale channels of all shapes and sizes. Kelly has garnered international attention working with underprivileged communities throughout South East Asia and has spearheaded trade initiatives to support and encourage local artisans and sustainable trade growth.
Over the last 5 years, Kelly has established herself further within the digital world, and is the driving force behind KGMG's Digital Marketing and Website Design & Development projects.
Now an established and sought after photographer and web developer, Kelly's love of small business has drawn her back to the local community where she hopes to assist operators looking to improve, expand or start their journey. With a diverse skill set ranging from the creative & digital to high level business management, logistics & finance, Kelly is now working with clients in the fashion, homewares, furniture, service, hospitality, not-for-profit, events and music industries.
Originally from Perth, Matt made the move to Melbourne in 2010 and wasted no time jumping into the thriving hospitality scene. There was no question that Melbourne's coffee culture had an enormous impact on him from the get-go, and Matt saw that the industry had enough opportunity and scope to become more than just a side hustle.
Between 2010 and 2014 Matt made it his mission to level up at any opportunity and work with the biggest and the best in the industry including senior roles at St Ali & Proud Mary Coffee. While working the bar at one of the Proud Mary outposts Matt introduced himself to owner & director Nolan Hirte and lined up some time to come and visit the roaster. This opportunity was instrumental in Matt's trajectory, he could see the full scope of the operation from crop to cup and realised how many moving parts it took to bring each department together.
Early on Matt made it clear to the Operations team that he wanted to learn and work within as many departments as possible. Between 2014 and 2017 he did just that gaining extensive experience in production, sales, retail, social media, training/HR and finally as part of the Operations team. He viewed this experience as the perfect blueprint of how to grow a business based on positive team culture, transparency and a holistic approach to operational systems. In fact, Matt detailed this exact blueprint in a business plan as part of his final assessment to gain his Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Business Management
At this point, Matt and wife Kelly were already contemplating beginning KGMG and Matt briefly took up an offer to work as the Head of Coffee Department at Roasting Warehouse (Formerly Di Bella). This was all the opportunity he needed to road-test his operational skills in building departments from scratch. Within 12 months every operational process and system was reviewed, formalised and documented. The in-house and public training programs were extended to include roasting and coffee cupping courses and the wholesale roasting output had more than doubled.
By the beginning of 2018, KGMG was well and truly in business and fast expanding. Matt has since collaborated with a raft of diverse local businesses and industries including hospitality, retail, farming and produce, non-profit and community educational programs.
Growing up in Macedon, Kelli started her career maintaining several positions across hospitality, sales & business administration. This included management roles at what are now the Macedon Wine Room and Red (Woodend), AAMI Insurance Gisborne and Langley McKimmie Chartered Accountants in Woodend.
Wanting to keep her mind active and push her skills to the next level at any stage, Kelli gained Diplomas in both Business Administration and Financial Service.
In 2010 Kelli added to her growing list of accreditations by becoming a Real Estate Agent at Hunt Real Estate (Gisborne) and within 2 years was promoted to the Head Property Manager role which included a portfolio of 210 properties!
In December 2013 Kelli and her Husband Matt (coincidence?, we think not!) were blessed with the birth of their daughter Indiana. While Kelli took time away from the Real Estate game, she also began to look for ways to feed her creative side. Kelli had always loved art, but her knack for organisation and structure within art inspired her to enrol in Intensive Foundations of Graphic Design at The Graphic Design School.
In January 2015 Kelli and Matt celebrated the birth of their son Cameron! This also marked the completion of Kelli's Graphic Design course. With an eye for simple and effective branding, marketing and design Kelli cites the work of Apple and of experimental typography Graphic Artist David Carson as inspiration.
At this point, Kelli has successfully built a portfolio of clients to move into Graphic Design full time and pursue her creativity while also raising two beautiful children AND somehow finding time with her husband to take on landscaping and renovation projects.
KGMG is truly honoured to have a weapon like Kelli on the team!
A true Macedon Ranges local, Ties has spent the best part of the last 20 years based in Woodend.
In high school Ties' parents gifted him a camera and since then it has been an obsession for the young talent. His passion wasn't just about taking pretty photographs either, Ties found joy in telling stories and connecting with people through his images.
It certainly helped being based in this beautiful part of the world, no shortage of stunning nature or adventure sports like mountain biking or snow sports on which to hone his craft.
His first project was Hayden’s Ride for Epilepsy in 2014. Ties' request to join the media crew granted him an opportunity to work alongside award-winning career wildlife and nature cinematographer Mark Lamble. Ties quickly realised that professional photography was the career direction he wanted to take.
To think all of this activity and experience was just a pre-cursor to university. Ties applied to 3 universities as he looked to continue his study, he was accepted by all of them, and eventually elected to go to RMIT.
Today Ties has all but finished his study and has had the opportunity to travel the world and shoot all manner of different subjects, from professional sporting events to lifestyle campaigns in the wilderness of Sri Lanka and Japan. At every stage, he has also remained connected to the Macedon Ranges community, working alongside hospitality & wholesale businesses and putting his photojournalism skills to use promoting local events and community programs for various publications.
He has even created his own eponymous brand Ties Urie Photography, where he has showcased his finest work to date.
With such an active resume paired with a true bootstrappers attitude, we are thrilled to have Ties on the KGMG Digital Media team. His sense of community, telling stories and technical skills, we highly recommend you watch this space for big things to come.
